"The Prototypes" was completed in February 09 and was entered into many festivals over the year.
One award was won at Skyfest II; overall many positive comments were made about the TV Pilot episode.
"The premise was original, fun," "...an interesting take on an updated 50's B movie" - comments from the ITV Festival 2009.
"The story was written well and the special effects were very good." - comments from the Estes Park Film Festival 2009.
To paraphrase another comment made by one of the festivals,
“The actor playing the alien was able to persevere even though he had to act through a mask.”
I love this comment because the on camera alien dialog was done with a puppet,
so the puppet was convincing as an actor in a costume.
The wide shots with the alien talking were composite animations for beak movements…
still no Computer Generated Images to stick with the 50s vintage style effects for the show.
So, congratulations to Paul for persevering via his right fist in a bird headed alien puppet!
The TV shows “Dr. Who” and “Red Dwarf” where both referenced by the ITV Festival reviewers as similar in style to “The Prototypes”
and that "The Prototypes" “has lots of potential.”
